Benefits for the Workplace

Work-related stress is widespread in the USA: 51% of Americans are unhappy and unengaged at work, while 36% suffer from work stress, costing the economy an estimated $30 billion a year in lost productivity. The American Psychological Association lists various benefits of meditation in the workplace, including reduced stress, improved focus, enhanced memory, improved regulation of emotions, and higher relationship satisfaction. Long-term meditators are more courageous and are more likely to make efficient decisions at work. More than 18 million Americans practice meditation daily, including several successful business leaders for whom it boosts productivity, improves emotional intelligence and enhances leadership. Marc Benioff, the co-founder and CEO of Salesforce, says it helps him keep a clear head and relieves stress. Meditation is widely practiced in various organizations such as General Mills, The US Marines, the Seattle Seahawks and Aetna.
